I’ve been using natural herbs for a long time now both for therapeutic reasons and because I believe in natural remedies. Many common herbs that we know of such as thyme, lavender, and echinacea have proven track records for healing, reducing stress, and preventing certain illnesses and diseases. But there are over thousands of herbs that have been used for centuries in other countries and the United States and many of us know only of a few. The FDA (Food Drug Adminstration) puts a pretty tight cap on what they deem as “safe” herbs, but when you think about it, they are approving certain drugs that have proved to be toxic and detrimental to the human body and people still think those drugs are okay. While I’m not here to tout about the ill effects of certain health rememdies out there, I am for one really glad that herbs can be used for healing and preventing health problems down the line. Mind you, certain herbs are safer than others and you should always consult a professional before taking and using any kind of herbal remedy.
However, many of us know the advantages of using the herb Neem and Neem oil as a therapeutic and beneficial remedy. Neem has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic treatments and have been conducted in studies around the world for its health benefits. I heard about Neem oil awhile ago and was interested in learning about the use of it for the skin. I found a company called TheraNeem (Organix-South) which uses high-quality, certified organic, pure Neem leaf extract as the base of their ingredients in their products. Neem has been known to be an effective anti-oxidant and contains more anti-oxidants than certain fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, spinach, and blueberries (http://organixsouth.com/info/index.php/theraneem/frequently-asked-questions/#9). And according to the folks at TheraNeem, Neem oil can help balance irritated and extremely dry, rough, or itchy skin; it can reduce fine lines; it helps with balancing skin tone and texture, it protects the skin with antioxidants, and many other benefits. Because the Neem oil is rich in essential fatty acids, the nutrient dense fatty acids help to feed, nourish, and soothe the skin.
With the winter months drying out and irritating our skin, I’m constantly lathering up with lotions and treatments to help soothe and protect against the dry weather. And it’s even more important that my son’s skin doesn’t get irritated by the dry weather. Where we live, it’s mostly dry throughout the year unless there’s rain so we really want to make sure we’re well moisturized. That’s why when Organix-South sent me their TheraNeem Kids Therape Shampoo/Bodywash and Conditioner I was super excited and thrilled to try them. I’ve heard positive things about Neem used as a treatment and preventative herb for the skin and since they made one for children, it was definitely worth trying!
Organix-South’s TheraNeem Kids Therape Shampoo and Bodywash definitely was a unique product. The shampoo and bodywash has a very distinct scent to it – it smells immensely like nuts or burnt nuts to be exact. At first my son and I couldn’t get used to the scent but after a few more shampoos, we actually started enjoying it more. But Neem isn’t the only ingredient in their shampoo and bodywash. It also contains beneficial ingredients such as Calendula, Aloe, Lavender, and Orange but it’s the Neem oil that really shines in this product. The shampoo and bodywash is also a bit thinner in consistency because they believe the thinner consistency will help penetrate to the scalp more. It was still very easy to lather up and wash off. Organix-South TheraNeem Therape Kids Shampoo and Bodywash is also free of parabens, sulfates, and anything that can harm children’s delicate skin. It’s also naturally super moisturizing and if you use their TheraNeem Conditioner along with the shampoo, you’ll get additional benefits like softer and smoother hair.
Organix-South as a company, was founded by a chemist many years ago after her own personal experiences and education in the importance of natural herbs in personal care. She was also deeply concerned with greener alternatives in skin and bodycare and her desire to build a better natural skincare and bodycare industry resulted in her new company, Organix-South. Currently Organix-South makes several natural and organic products such as TheraNeem, TheraVeda, and Naked Organix, all of which contains specially formulated ingredients to help your body and your health: http://organixsouth.com/.
