Summertime is probably the best time to travel if you have school-aged kids. Take up the last month of freedom before school starts again to enjoy some last minute traveling. Wherever you’re traveling to, be prepared for all the little incidences that may happen, such as illness, sunburn, bug bites, etc.
We’ve had a very busy summer so far. Between traveling to visit my family in the Bay Area to a retreat in the mountains and then another brief trip to Poland and Germany, my son and I have racked up some much needed recuperation after it’s all said and done. Vacationing can be fun, but it’s also a bit tiring. That’s why its crucial to be prepared for things that you don’t think could sneak up upon you. Like jet lag, or achy legs, or tired feet. If you do a lot of walking while you’re vacationing, you probably want to just soak in a nice, warm, bubbly bathtub afterwards.
One of my most favorite brands for soothing aches and pains is the leading homeopathic medicinal care, Boiron (https://www.boironusa.com/). I have been using Boiron products for well over 10 years and started giving them to my son when he was around 7 years old. Homeopathic basically means using natural remedies to stimulate the body’s own healing process. Homeopathic treatments have no ill side effects unless you are allergic to certain types of plants or herbs. Because homeopathic medicine works with your body to naturally heal your symptoms, almost anyone of any age can use this type of treatment.
I was given several new products from Boiron to try since we have been doing some extensive traveling and also wanted to give some temporary pain relief for when my son practices sports. Arnica is a type of plant with many beneficial health properties, with healing and pain relief as some of the best known properties. With Boiron’s Arnicare, the products we tried were the Arnicare Roll-on pain Relief, Leg Cramps, and Foot Care. With the Arnicare Roll-on, the product glides on with a roller ball while the medicinal gel is squeezed into the top. You can squeeze as much gel as you want and I recommend you using the Arnicare Roll-on continuously for a few days. It’s great for sore and aching muscles, joints, and bone area and a plus for kids who play sports or exercises a lot. The Arnicare Leg Cramps is a tablet form and again, I recommend you using it continuously for a few days. And the Arnicare Foot Care is a gel version of the Arnicare Roll-on. So, depending on which you prefer and is easiest to use, the Arnicare Foot Care or Roll-on works any time of the day and especially right after the exertion or onset of problems.
I’ve been using natural health remedies for many, many years and while I might use the occasional ibuprofen or aspirin, I truly believe that taking care of your body naturally produces less negative side effects. In the long term, natural remedies might even be better for your body as they work with your body. When we did a lot of climbing in the hills on our retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains, we needed some relief from the sore muscles. That’s not to say that everyone will get sore and achy muscles, but if you work out a lot, are a dancer, or practice sports every day, then you probably know what I’m referring to. Just like a good massage or a soak in the tub, these Arnica-made products can also help you heal and feel better. Even something as simple as a pulled muscle can be relieved with Arnicare. You just never know when you might need it. After using these products for several years, I carry the Arnicare Gel in my purse at all times.
I was also given the Boiron Jet Lag which I gave to my sister to try and based on her reaction, she indicated she was less groggy after departing the plane. I will be using it when we head to Europe so stay tuned for my own personal results!
